PDT Ltd is proud to announce that 2004 sees the 20th anniversary
of the foundation of the company. In 1984 the founder and Managing
Director, John Warren believed that too many software projects failed
because of inadequate specification. His belief was that there should
be a sound theoretical basis for software and that this should be
understandable by everyone concerned with the software process. The
approach turned out to be more successful than he had hoped: not only
software but also business processes can now be swiftly and accurately
modelled. The underlying theory, never seen by users, allows these
models to be checked for consistency and correctness and to be animated
to show what will happen later, when the system or process is implemented.
Confirmation that the desired results are achievable before implementation
is vital to the success of the client’s business. “There
so many companies who have systems and procedures that are failing
through insufficient or incorrect specifications” John said
“I wanted to provide a mechanism that would enable them to test
their proposals in software and iron out any of the wrinkles and spot
any omissions before they go live within the business” he added.
The business grew; Robin Oldman joined the team and brought with
him a wealth of experience in both the Auto ID industry and also in
business processes and computing. The development of our software
tool CREATIV led to consulting work from a variety of industries including
healthcare, defence, manufacturing, logistics, distribution and retail
to name just a few. Jon Critoph joined as Sales & Marketing Manager
in 2002 and added the systems design and integration capability and
a wealth of experience gained with his 22 years in the barcode and
AutoID industry.
“It has been an exciting and sometimes challenging road we
have travelled” remarked John Warren, “But it has been
one well worth exploring and I have certainly enjoyed every step of
the journey so far.” Jon Critoph added “It has been wonderful
working with such a diverse set of customers and helping them identify
the pain in their business and remove the cause.”
The company’s success is based on bringing perspective to our
customers’ business. We provide information and advice and thereby
empower our customers to make well-informed decisions. Jon adds “Much
of our business is either repeat business or from word of mouth from
happy customers who recommend us to their colleagues.”
